The Human Rights Violation Task Force at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office summoned Bang for questioning starting at around 10 a.m. on the 6th in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Bang is accused of providing money and other valuables to Ahn Bu-soo, president of the Asia Pacific Peace Exchange Association and a key witness in the North Korea remittance trial, in an attempt to influence his testimony.
Prosecutors suspect that from March 2023, Bang provided an officetel to Ahn's daughter for two years and eight months, paid 72 million won in rent and related expenses, and falsely put her on the SBW payroll, paying her 27 million won in fake wages.
Last month, prosecutors sought arrest warrants for Bang, Ahn, and former SBW director Mr. Park, but the court denied all requests. Prosecutors plan to summon Mr. Park for questioning on the 7th and former SBW chairman Kim Sung-tae on the 8th.
