Singer Sohyang has issued a direct apology following controversy over her live performance of 'Golden,' the original soundtrack for the Netflix animated film 'KPop Demon Hunters.'

On the 31st of last month, Sohyang took the stage at the '2026 Countdown Show Light Now' on Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), performing 'Golden,' the OST for KPop Demon Hunters, alongside Park Hye-won (stage name: HYNN) and Youngbin.
Sohyang sang the opening part, but some sections showed unstable pitch. In the following high notes, her unique vocal style stood out, leading to criticism that the harmony among the singers was lacking. However, as the performance progressed, she gradually regained stability and finished the song.

After the video was released, some netizens commented, "It was a live disaster," "It was too much," and "She ruined the original song." Others, however, expressed understanding, noting that the cold weather may have affected her pitch. In response to a comment saying, "It seems she only focused on the high notes," Sohyang replied, "I know... I ruined everything. I am also very disappointed in myself," drawing attention.

On the 4th, Sohyang shared her feelings again through her YouTube channel, saying, "I really didn't do well with 'Golden.' I realized once again that this voice belongs to God. When I use it for my own desires, I can only be incompetent."
Sohyang debuted in 1996. She gained popularity for her powerful vocals and unique tone through appearances on shows such as 'I Am a Singer' (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation), 'Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend' (KBS 2TV), and 'King of Mask Singer' (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation).
