[Financial News] Actress Lee Young-ae has reportedly withdrawn her civil lawsuit in the second instance against a YouTuber who claimed she was close to Kim Keon Hee.
According to legal sources on the 5th, Lee Young-ae submitted a withdrawal of lawsuit to the 13th Civil Division of the Seoul High Court (Presiding Judges Kwangseop Moon, Kang Hyo-won, and Kim Jin-ha) on December 30 last year.
Cheonsu Jeong, former head of Open Mind TV, also submitted his consent to the withdrawal on the same day.
Previously, Open Mind TV reported that Lee Young-ae's donation of 50 million won to the Syngman Rhee Presidential Memorial Foundation in September 2023 was due to her alleged friendship with Kim Keon Hee.
Lee Young-ae filed civil and criminal lawsuits against former head Jeong, claiming she suffered damages from defamation based on false information during the trial.
In response, Jeong's side argued that the information was not false and was in the public interest, thus not unlawful.
In the first civil trial, the court ruled in favor of Jeong last December, dismissing the plaintiff's claims.
Meanwhile, regarding Lee Young-ae's criminal complaint against Jeong for defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Jeong received a summary order to pay a fine of 7 million won last month.
