[The Financial News] Hamzy (real name Ham Jihyung), a YouTuber with 14 million subscribers, has announced a temporary break from her broadcasting activities.
On the 4th, Hamzy posted a video titled "Major Announcement! Thank You for Everything" on her YouTube channel, revealing that she would be pausing her mukbang content to focus on having a second child.
She began, "You might be surprised since this isn't a mukbang video. I have something to share, so I decided to upload this video."
Hamzy explained, "It's already been eight years since I started YouTube. I began in my late twenties, and now I'm in my mid-thirties. My boyfriend, who has grown this channel with me, and I have been together for ten years. We've both gotten older, and if we don't make a decision now, another year or two will pass by in a flash."
She continued, "After much thought, I've decided to take a break from my mukbang channel to focus on having children. I won't stop uploading videos entirely—I'll still post shorts I've already filmed and occasionally upload long-form videos as updates."
She added, "I've cooked, eaten, and filmed so many dishes in the kitchen, and even had arguments, creating countless memories. It's not easy to take a break. But with the new year, I've made a big decision. I plan to rest well, eat healthy, quit drinking, visit the doctor, and prepare for a child. By 2026, I hope to welcome Hamzy's second child."
In 2024, Hamzy ranked third in a survey of Korea's most popular YouTubers.
