[Financial News] Police investigating allegations of political lobbying by the Unification Church have conducted a third round of questioning with Yoon Young-ho, the former head of its World Headquarters.
On the morning of the 5th, a special investigation team from the National Office of Investigation sent personnel to the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, to carry out the third interrogation of Yoon, who is under suspicion of violating the Political Funds Act.
Yoon is accused of delivering cash and luxury watches worth tens of millions of won to Jeon Jae-soo, former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, Jong-Sung Yim, former lawmaker of the Democratic Party, and Kyuhwan Kim, former lawmaker of the United Future Party, between 2018 and 2020.
Previously, police first interviewed Yoon at the Seoul Detention Center on December 11. A second attempt was made on December 24, but Yoon refused to participate. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued on January 26, and the second interrogation was conducted.
At the end of last month, police referred Yoon and three others to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Political Funds Act. However, prosecutors requested supplementary investigations for three of them, except for Gwang-seok Song, who previously served as president of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), an affiliate of the Unification Church.
