[The Financial News] A beautiful woman in her twenties from the Republic of the Philippines, who married an American, has voiced her frustration over allegations that she entered into a 'marriage of convenience' for money and permanent residency.
According to The Sun on the 4th, Lyn (24), a woman from the Republic of the Philippines, met Brett (25), an American, through an online dating app. After a long period of online conversations, they began dating.
Lyn, who first received a message from Brett while he was working as an engineer, stated, "When I first saw him, I thought he was cute."
The couple maintained a relationship exclusively online for about two years. Recently, Lyn visited Massachusetts in the USA, where they met in person for the first time. Afterwards, Brett proposed to Lyn, and after accepting his proposal, she moved to the USA.
After getting married, the couple launched a joint social media account, sharing their journey from dating to married life. Lyn has been living in the USA for about five months but has not yet found employment and is still job hunting. Brett is currently the sole breadwinner, while Lyn manages the household, according to the couple.
As their story became public, some internet users raised suspicions, claiming, "Lyn married for a green card," and "It was a marriage motivated by financial gain."
In response, Lyn told the media, "People say I married an overweight American man for money and permanent residency, but that is absolutely not true. Like any other ordinary couple, we love each other and are building our life together."
She added, "Many people criticize my husband's appearance and leave hurtful comments. Please stop the online abuse."
Brett also explained, "If Lyn had married me for money, she would have chosen someone far wealthier. I am not in a financially comfortable situation right now."
He continued, "My wife simply enjoys cooking and actively participates in housework. She is just an ordinary, devoted woman."
Finally, the couple stated that despite ongoing malicious comments online, they have no plans to stop sharing their content publicly.
