[The Financial News] Im Sung-geun, who ranked in the top 7 on 'Culinary Class Wars Season 2,' is once again drawing attention after a story about his kindness spread online.
On the 2nd, a self-employed restaurant owner in Gimcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do, revealed through their Social Networking Service (SNS) account that they had suffered a no-show on the 28th of last month.
The owner received a reservation call at around 4:30 p.m. the day before the no-show. The booking was for a group of ten—six adults and four children—scheduled to visit at 11:30 a.m. on December 27. They requested four servings of soy-marinated bulgogi and six servings of spicy gochujang bulgogi, totaling ten portions.
The meat was grilled in time for the reservation, but even after the appointed hour, the guests never arrived. All contact was lost after that.
While the owner was anxiously waiting, a male customer who heard about the situation asked if he could have the grilled meat.
The owner soon realized that this customer was none other than Im Sung-geun, winner of 'Korean Food War Season 3' and a current contestant on 'Culinary Class Wars Season 2.'
The owner expressed heartfelt thanks for visiting the restaurant and shared a photo taken together, mentioning that Im also offered some advice.
Later, Chef Im shared his perspective on the incident via his own SNS. He wrote, "The owner told me they had been no-showed by a group of ten. As someone preparing to open my own restaurant, I couldn't help but feel for them."
He continued, "I asked if I could have the pre-grilled meat, and as soon as I tasted it, it was so delicious that I finished four servings in no time. To encourage the owner, I shared a top-secret recipe. As a thank you, I even received a cute potted plant and helped promote the restaurant."
Readers who came across the story commented, "This post warms the heart," "Such an admirable person," and "I really hate scam reservation calls that result in no-shows."
