News has emerged of the passing of first-generation beauty creator Daddoa (real name Dasol Lee).
According to industry sources, Daddoa passed away on December 16 last year at the age of 29.
Leferi, the beauty creator management agency to which Daddoa belonged, requested, "Please refrain from speculation so that the bereaved family can mourn in peace."
They added, "Daddoa was more than just a first-generation YouTuber; she was the first to prove the global potential of K-beauty."
Born in 1996, Daddoa experienced the popularity of K-beauty while studying in the Lao People's Democratic Republic (LPDR) during high school. After returning to Korea, she began her career as a beauty creator.
She went on to amass around 2.7 million subscribers, establishing herself as a first-generation beauty creator and gaining attention in the global industry.
Women's Wear Daily (WWD) named Daddoa a 'social beauty media star,' and global cosmetics brand MAC Cosmetics introduced her as a 'global beauty hero.' Even during her hiatus, she maintained over one million YouTube subscribers in Korea and continued to receive widespread support.
Since 2021, she had suspended her activities to focus on her studies and was preparing to enter graduate school when the sudden news of her passing was reported.
Online users expressed their condolences, commenting, "She was far too young," "This is heartbreaking," and "May she rest in peace."
