[The Financial News] A story has surfaced about a junior employee who saw no issue with using a corporate credit card, given for taxi fare after a company dinner, to shop at a supermarket instead. The employee justified the action by claiming they used the bus to save on taxi fare and spent only the saved amount on groceries, sparking controversy.
Recently, a post detailing this incident was uploaded to an online community. According to Employee A, after a recent company dinner ended late, they handed the corporate credit card to the newest staff member, instructing them to take a taxi home and to return the card the next day.
However, the card transaction history showed supermarket purchases instead of taxi fares. When Employee A asked the staff member the next day, "Did you lose the card?" the employee replied, "No, I didn't lose it." When questioned if they had used it at a supermarket, the employee admitted, "Yes, I did."
When Employee A pressed further, asking, "You meant to use your personal card for groceries but used the corporate card instead, right?" the employee responded, "No, I used it specifically to buy groceries."
When asked why the card given for a taxi was used at a supermarket, the employee explained, "I calculated that the taxi fare home would be 20,000 won, so I took the bus instead and spent 20,000 won on groceries."
Employee A pointed out, "You shouldn't do that. Please be careful in the future." However, the employee confidently replied, "Either way, my share was 20,000 won, and I spent exactly that. Is that really wrong? I don't think I did anything wrong."
Online commenters who read the story criticized the employee, saying, "They need to be properly taught since they don't understand," "I can't believe people like that have jobs," and "How did they even get hired?"
