[The Financial News] As the year draws to a close, the 'Faceless Angel' of Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do, who quietly donates money and disappears, has once again appeared this year. This act of kindness has continued for 26 consecutive years.
A middle-aged man donates a bundle of cash with a message wishing only good things

According to Yonhap News Agency, at around 3:43 p.m. on the 30th, the Nosong-dong Community Service Center received a call from a middle-aged man. After the call, a staff member found a box containing bundles of cash, a piggy bank, and a letter inside an A4 paper box at a location about a three-minute walk from the center.
The letter contained a brief message: “I hope only good things happen in 2026. Wishing you good health and a Happy New Year.”
The donation inside the box totaled 90,046,000 won, including bundles of 50,000-won bills amounting to 90 million won. With this, the Faceless Angel’s cumulative donations to Jeonju-si have reached 1,134,882,520 won. Over 26 years, the donations have been made 27 times.
Jeonju-si plans to use this donation to help vulnerable groups in the Nosong-dong area, such as children who are heads of their households and elderly people living alone, in accordance with the donor’s wishes.
A good deed that began in 2000 with a piggy bank containing 580,000 won

This angel’s acts of kindness began in April 2000, when a piggy bank containing 584,000 won was left with a note asking for it to be used to help neighbors in need.
Since then, the donor has given millions to tens of millions of won every year, never once revealing their name or face, earning the nickname 'Faceless Angel.'
The donations have been delivered as coal briquettes, rice, and scholarships to struggling residents and students in the Nosong-dong area.
In 2019, there was an incident where about 60 million won left near the community center was stolen and later recovered, but the donations have continued every year without interruption.
Jeonju-si creates 'Angel Without a Face Road' and designates it as Future Heritage

To honor the angel’s wishes, Jeonju-si established the 'Angel Without a Face Road' near the Nosong-dong Community Service Center and erected the 'Faceless Angel Monument.'
Residents celebrate 'Angel's Day' every October 4th with sharing events, and Jeonju-si has designated this act of kindness as 'Future Heritage,' symbolizing it as a treasure of Jeonju-si for the next 100 years.
Noh Dong-sik, head of the Jeonju-si Faceless Angel Festival Organizing Committee, stated, “For 26 years, this individual has quietly performed good deeds without ever revealing their name or face, which has deeply moved us again. The angel’s actions have become seeds of love, inspiring more anonymous donors nationwide and creating the so-called 'angel effect.'”
