The two schools alternate the event’s official name each year between the 'Korea University–Yonsei University rivalry' and the 'Korea–Yonsei rivalry.' As Yonsei University is hosting this year, the event is being called the 'Korea University–Yonsei University rivalry.' 2025.09.19. xconfind@newsis.com /Photo=Newsis

[Financial News] Korea University has issued an official apology to Yonsei University regarding inappropriate remarks made during the broadcast of the annual Korea University–Yonsei University rivalry baseball game held in September. Yonsei University accepted the apology on the 29th.
In a public statement released on the 24th, Korea University said, "We sincerely apologize to the Yonsei University team and related parties who may have been hurt or offended by inappropriate comments made by a guest commentator during the baseball broadcast." The university also added, "We deeply apologize to the members of Korea University who may have been disappointed by this incident."
Korea University further stated, "This incident reflects our failure to fully uphold the fundamental values of respect and consideration in exchange and communication," emphasizing, "We take our moral responsibility very seriously."
The controversy arose when, during the Korea University Broadcasting Station (KUBS) baseball broadcast, a commentator made remarks suggesting that the Yonsei University team "seemed not to have received love from their parents."
Yonsei University responded by stating, "Through this incident, both universities will work together to foster a more dignified and healthy sports culture."
