Police Re-Summon Former UPF President Gwang-seok Song, Key Figure in Unification Church Lobbying Allegations

on the 24th. Song, who has led organizations under the Unification Church such as UPF, is considered a central figure in the lobbying allegations involving political circles. Police suspect that Song and others acted as intermediaries in the process of Unification Church funds being delivered not only to former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Jeon Jae-soo, but also to former Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) lawmaker Lim Jong Seong and former United Future Party lawmaker Kyuhwan Kim.
At around 9:50 a. m. that day, the police executed an arrest warrant for Yoon Young-ho, former head of the Unification Church World Headquarters.
Unlike previous voluntary interviews, the issuance of an arrest warrant gives the investigation compulsory force. Since Yoon had refused to cooperate during earlier interviews, the police obtained the warrant to expedite the investigation. The police also summoned two Unification Church officials as witnesses for questioning that morning.
These individuals are reported to be different from those previously summoned.
