[Financial News] An accident occurred in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex where a reversing vehicle collided with five other cars in succession.
According to the Changwon Jungbu Police Station on the 26th, at around 8:03 p.m. the previous day, a Mercedes-Benz sedan driven by a woman in her 50s, identified as Ms. A, struck five other vehicles in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Seongsan District, Changwon.
As a result of the accident, Ms. A's Mercedes-Benz, two Porsche vehicles, two BMWs, and one Genesis parked in the lot were damaged.
Ms. A was transported to the hospital after complaining of lower back pain, but no external injuries were reported.
Police estimate that the total damages from the accident could reach up to 400 million KRW.
The investigation found that Ms. A was reversing at high speed to park, crossed over a parking barrier, and then collided with five other vehicles in succession.
At the time of the accident, Ms. A was reportedly neither intoxicated nor driving without a license. She claimed that sudden unintended acceleration caused the crash.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident by analyzing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and the Event Data Recorder (EDR).
