Female Teacher in the UK Sentenced for Sexual Relationships with Two Teenage Students, Pregnant with One’s Child

[Financial News] A female teacher in the United Kingdom (UK) who had sexual relationships with two teenage male students and became pregnant by one of them has been sentenced to prison and permanently banned from entering any school.
On the 25th (local time), the Daily Mail reported that the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) in the UK recently revoked the teaching license of mathematics teacher Rebecca Joynes (32). This decision was made after Joynes committed grooming offenses against two of her teenage male students.
Last year, Joynes was sentenced to six years and six months in prison by Manchester Crown Court for six offenses, including sexual and psychological abuse of the boys.
Previously, she bought a luxury brand belt worth £345 (about 590,000 KRW) for Student A (16), took him to her apartment in Salford, Manchester, and had sexual intercourse with him twice. After rumors spread, she was suspended from school and investigated by police.
However, Joynes’s crimes did not stop there. In 2023, while on trial, she also had a sexual relationship with another student, Student B (17), and gave birth to his child.
According to the TRA panel, Joynes had been in contact with Student B since he was 15, and began having regular sexual relations with him after he turned 16. In the UK, any adult who has sexual intercourse or commits indecent acts with a child under 16 can be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, regardless of consent.
The TRA stated that Joynes’s criminal acts involved serious sexual abuse of the boys and had the potential to cause significant emotional harm.
The TRA chairperson noted, "This crime has permanently altered the trajectory of Student B’s life," adding, "Especially since Joynes committed offenses against Student B while on bail for crimes related to Student A, there was no evidence of remorse or improvement."
