At 10 a.m. (Korean time) on the 25th, LG Electronics released a teaser video for the home robot through its global social media accounts. The video introduced the robot's name, 'LG CLOiD.' The footage showed the robot using its five fingers to pick up and hold household items, as well as exchanging fist bumps with people, hinting at its ability to interact with humans.
The name CLOiD combines LG Electronics' robot brand 'LG CLOi' with the letter 'D' from 'Dynamic,' symbolizing vitality. The concept was born from the idea that, in order to save customers time and effort on housework and allow them to focus on more valuable activities, not only are labor-saving appliances needed, but also a new form factor that can perform tasks directly.

Equipped with two arms and five fingers, the body of CLOiD is capable of delicate, human-like movements, enabling it to perform household chores smoothly in environments designed for people. Powered by AI, the robot can autonomously recognize and learn from its surroundings. It is also planned to serve as an AI assistant, managing various AI appliances according to the resident’s schedule and lifestyle, and providing personalized care.
LG Electronics views the robotics sector, including home robots, as a 'clear future' and is accelerating technological advancements. In its latest organizational restructuring, the company established the HS Robotics Lab under the Home Appliance Solution Division (HS Division). By consolidating home robot capabilities previously scattered across the company, LG aims to secure differentiated future technologies and strengthen product competitiveness.
LG Electronics is also expanding collaborations with external companies possessing leading robotics technology. This year, it signed research agreements with robotics specialist ROBOTIS and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), and is conducting joint research. The company is also investing in global robotics firms such as Figure AI, Inc. in the United States and Agibot in China, researching various technologies to enhance the safety and practicality of home robots.
Seungtae Baek, Executive Vice President and head of the HS Division at LG Electronics, stated, "At CES 2026, we will showcase not only the home robot LG CLOiD, but also LG Electronics' efforts toward the vision of a 'Zero Labor Home.'"
