According to Financial News, Bitcoin (BTC) hovered around the $88,000 mark on the 23rd. Despite a 'Santa Rally' across all three major New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) indices, the cryptocurrency market showed little movement.
Data from global crypto information platform CoinMarketCap shows that as of 10 a.m. on this day, BTC was trading at around $88,000, up 0.06% over the previous 24 hours. Over the past week, BTC has risen by 3.41%.
BTC is trading at approximately 132 million KRW in the Korean won market. According to the global crypto price comparison platform Cryprice, the Korea premium stands at 0.55%.
On the 22nd (local time), the three major NYSE indices closed higher, led by technology stocks. The NYSE has now risen for three consecutive days, fueling the sentiment that the so-called 'Santa Rally'—a year-end stock market surge—has arrived.
In contrast, the crypto market has not experienced a Santa Rally. Investors appear to be taking a wait-and-see approach regarding the potential impact on risk assets like cryptocurrencies following the Bank of Japan (BOJ)'s decision to raise interest rates on the 19th.
Some analysts suggest that Strategy Inc's decision not to purchase additional BTC has also affected investor sentiment. Strategy Inc currently holds about 671,268 BTC and did not make any additional purchases last week.
However, Michael J. Saylor, chairman of Strategy Inc, clarified, "We have not changed our Bitcoin strategy," adding, "We are maintaining our long-term BTC holding strategy."
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index provided by CoinMarketCap stood at 29 on this day, indicating 'fear,' the same as the previous day. The index ranges from 0 to 100, with values closer to 0 representing 'extreme fear' and those near 100 indicating 'extreme greed.'
At the same time, Ethereum was trading at around $3,025, down 0.02% from the previous day. Ripple was trading at $1.90, down 1.15%.
