[Financial News] Recently, it was revealed that the logo on a limited-edition LG Whisen Air Conditioner released by LG Electronics 20 years ago was made of pure gold, drawing attention. Now, gold has also been discovered in the 'S.T. Dupont Edition (SKY X Dupont)' model, released by Pantech SKY in the late 2000s, attracting further interest.
On the 21st, a video titled "This Time, Gold in a Cell Phone?" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Lingling Unnie.'
The video shows a woman bringing in the gold ornament attached to the 2009 Pantech SKY 'S.T. Dupont Edition' model and requesting an appraisal.
This product was a feature phone released in collaboration with the French luxury brand S.T. Dupont as a limited edition. At the time, it gained significant popularity due to its luxurious design and gold accents.
The woman explained, "This is the gold decoration that was attached to the phone," adding, "It's a very old limited edition from when SKY and S.T. Dupont collaborated."
She continued, "I bought this phone in 2009," and added, "When I changed phones, I thought I should keep it since it was gold, so I stored it just in case."
The YouTuber, who runs a gold shop, received the gold logo from the product and remarked, "It feels light. It says 18K," before beginning the appraisal.
The analysis confirmed that the gold ornament was indeed made of 18K gold. Weighing about 1.01 grams, it was valued at approximately 148,700 won at the time, excluding appraisal fees.
Viewers who watched the video commented, "Amazing. There used to be all sorts of things back then," "Now it's too expensive to see collaborations like that," "From refrigerators to cell phones... things were really great in the past," and "I used to have that phone and sold the gold ornament for 30,000 won in 2011, but if it's worth 140,000 won now, I should have kept it."
