[Financial News] The Korea Association of Theater Actors reported the passing of actress Yoon Suk-hwa on the 19th, but later corrected the information, stating it was not true.
The Korea Association of Theater Actors issued a correction on the same day, urgently clarifying, "The news of actress Yoon Suk-hwa’s death is not true."
Earlier that morning, around 5 a.m., the association had released a statement saying that Yoon Suk-hwa had passed away at approximately 9 p.m. the previous day, surrounded by her family.
The association explained, "Although Yoon Suk-hwa is in critical condition due to a brain tumor, it has been confirmed that she is currently still breathing under the care of her family." It was also reported that her children, who live in the UK, are staying by her side for her final moments.
The Korea Association of Theater Actors stated, "We deeply apologize to the family and fans for causing confusion without thoroughly verifying the facts," and added, "We feel a profound sense of responsibility for causing distress to the family, who are hoping for her recovery."
Yoon Suk-hwa has been undergoing treatment since undergoing surgery for a malignant brain tumor in October 2022, following her performance in the play 'Hamlet' in July of that year.
Born in Seoul in 1956, Yoon Suk-hwa began her acting career in 1975 with the play 'The Taste of Honey.' She became the first star actress in the theater world, leaving a strong impression on the public through works such as 'Agnes of God' and 'Hamlet.' Alongside senior actresses Son Sook and Park Jeong-ja, she is recognized as one of the leading female figures in Korean theater.
