[Financial News] Police investigating the 'Unification Church bribery allegations' have summoned Jung Won-joo, former chief secretary to Hak Ja Han, the leader of the Unification Church, for questioning.
The special investigation team of the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) summoned Jung at around 9:43 a.m. on the 18th to the KNPA headquarters in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, as a reference witness.
Jung is known to be Hak Ja Han's closest aide and a key figure, overseeing personnel, administration, and finances within the Unification Church.
In front of the KNPA headquarters, Jung was asked questions such as whether there had been any delivery of funds to politicians, but entered the interrogation room without responding.
The police are expected to investigate allegations that, between 2018 and 2020, the Unification Church provided tens of millions of won in cash and luxury watches to Chun Jae-soo, former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), Jong Sung Lim, former Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) lawmaker, and Kyuhwan Kim, former United Future Party lawmaker.
