[Financial News] YK Law Firm announced on the 18th that it has recruited Go Gi-dong, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) (38th Civil Service Exam), and Kim Yoon-jung, former judge at the Seoul High Court (32nd Judicial Research and Training Institute), who has extensive expertise in family law.
This recruitment aims to strengthen the firm's advisory capabilities in public policy and family law, and to expand its comprehensive legal services for corporations, public institutions, and individuals.
Go Gi-dong, who joined as an advisor to YK's Public Policy Group, passed the civil service exam in 1994 and has held key positions in planning, budgeting, organization, and personnel across central and local governments. He gained broad hands-on experience in national administration through roles at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Presidential Office, and Sejong Special Self-Governing City, where he was responsible for policy coordination and organizational management.
Recognized as a 'policy planning expert' for his experience in both central and local government, Go led major initiatives such as stabilizing the next-generation local tax system and establishing a response system to local extinction after being appointed Vice Minister of MOIS in 2023. Notably, in March, when large-scale wildfires broke out in North and South Gyeongsang provinces, he served as acting Minister of MOIS, overseeing wildfire response and recovery efforts.
YK Law Firm plans to leverage Go's experience to provide strategic advisory services for public policy and national projects, administrative regulation response, crisis management strategies, and digital administration transformation for public institutions and corporations.
Kim Yoon-jung, who joins as managing attorney, graduated from the Department of Law, Korea University and was appointed as a judge in 2003. She handled civil and family cases at the Incheon District Court and Seoul Central District Court, then served at the Haenam Branch of the Gwangju District Court, and later as a specialist judge in family and juvenile cases at the Seoul Family Court, focusing on divorce, inheritance, and child protection cases. She was also the first female spokesperson judge at the Seoul Family Court.
Kim has also been active in research. In 2016, she served as a judicial research fellow at the Judicial Policy Research Institute (JPRI), participating in studies on the adult guardianship system and juvenile criminal procedures. From 2018 to 2021, she served as a judge at the Seoul High Court, presiding over family and civil cases. During this period, she was the presiding judge in the appellate divorce case between Lee Boo-jin, President of Hotel Shilla, and Im Woo-jae, former advisor at Samsung Electro-Mechanics.
After leaving the bench, Kim worked as managing attorney at Law Firm HWAAN, handling a variety of family law cases including division of property, inheritance, and parental rights. At YK Law Firm, she will further strengthen legal services in family law, including disputes over division of property and inheritance, cases related to the adult guardianship system, and advisory services for corporations and individuals in response to changes in family law.
Go Gi-dong stated, “Based on my experience in both central and local administration, I will contribute to policy and administrative advisory services for public institutions and corporations.” Kim Yoon-jung said, “By joining YK Law Firm, I hope to promote both quantitative and qualitative growth in civil and family law and enhance client satisfaction in case management.”
