Korean National Police Agency headquarters in Seodaemun District, Seoul.
The Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) announced on the 18th that it has launched the Integrated Management System for Protected Zones, providing the public with real-time access to various facility information regarding child, senior, and disabled protected zones. With this system, tasks previously managed manually by local governments can now be handled more conveniently online.
Results of on-site inspections for protected zones can also be registered and managed within the system. Through the newly established Integrated Management System for Protected Zones, local government officials and citizens can instantly check a range of information related to protected zones via an electronic map.
The system also allows the public to submit suggestions for facility improvements. The KNPA expects that the system will make it easier to designate or remove protected zones, manage facility status statistics, and register inspection results.
These improvements are anticipated to enhance efficiency and enable staff to handle related tasks more swiftly. Additionally, parents and other citizens can easily locate protected zones and facility information through the electronic map.
They can also request the installation of essential facilities, such as safety fences or unmanned enforcement devices, around schools, which is expected to help ensure traffic safety for vulnerable groups like children. Kim Hoseung, Director of Traffic Safety at the KNPA, stated, "With the launch of the Integrated Management System for Protected Zones, systematic management of these areas becomes possible, and it is expected to contribute to the prevention of accidents involving vulnerable road users such as children.
We encourage the public to take an active interest and make use of the system.
