[Financial News] On the 17th, SGC E&C announced the successful completion of its Malaysia project, showcasing plant modularization.
The Malaysia project is a 350 billion KRW Epichlorohydrin (ECH) and Caustic Soda production facility, for which SGC E&C oversaw the entire process as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor. After signing the initial design and procurement contract in December 2023, the company secured the construction contract in July 2024.
SGC E&C adopted the modular construction method to ensure efficient project management and a stable construction schedule. By thoroughly analyzing the geographical characteristics and infrastructure of the Malaysia site, the company implemented a tailored local strategy that maximized construction quality and process efficiency.
Since July last year, a total of 37 modules—including 11 Pre-Assembly Unit (PAU) modules and 26 Pre-Assembled Pipe Rack Module (PAR Modules)—were fabricated in Vietnam, which is capable of large-scale module production. The total weight reached 6,300 tons, with individual modules measuring up to 46 meters in length, 14 meters in width, and 34 meters in height.
The modules produced in Vietnam were transported in three shipments using two barges to the project site in Sarawak, Malaysia, starting in April. The total transport distance was approximately 1,820 kilometers. At the Malaysia project site, after connecting the modules, the team proceeded with electrical and instrumentation work, architectural finishing, and piping completion.
Lee Woo-sung, CEO of SGC E&C, stated, "We will strengthen profitability with optimal construction strategies tailored to each project's characteristics and site conditions," adding, "We plan to continue expanding high-quality orders by leveraging our EPC expertise and outstanding technical capabilities."
