[Financial News] Prosecutors have returned the police's arrest warrants for Jeon Kwang-hoon, pastor of Sarang Jeil Church, and Shin Hye-sik, head of the YouTube channel 'Sinihan Su,' who were identified as being behind the break-in and violence at the Seoul Western District Court.
According to a summary of Financial News coverage on the 17th, the Security Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) applied for arrest warrants for Jeon and Shin on the 12th on charges including incitement to break into a special building, incitement to obstruct official duties, and violations of the Assembly and Demonstration Act. However, prosecutors requested further investigation.
The police plan to reapply for the arrest warrants after conducting supplementary investigations and receiving the records back from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office.
Jeon and Shin are accused of systematically managing close associates and prominent conservative YouTubers by exploiting religious faith (gaslighting) and providing financial support, thereby inciting the disturbance at the Seoul Western District Court.
On August 5, police searched the residences of Jeon, Shin, and five others involved. On September 23, they also searched the office of Jeon's daughter, Jeon Hanna, and the office of Lee Young-han, the lead pastor of Sarang Jeil Church.
On the 18th and 21st of last month, Jeon was summoned and questioned by the police on consecutive occasions.
