Park Chan-wook's 'No Other Choice' and 'Golden' from 'KPop Demon Hunters' Make Oscar Shortlist

[Financial News] Director Park Chan-wook's film 'No Other Choice' and the soundtrack 'Golden' from the Netflix animation 'KPop Demon Hunters' have moved a step closer to the Oscars.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which oversees the Oscars, announced on the 16th (local time) the shortlists for 12 categories at the 98th Academy Awards, including International Feature Film and Best Original Song.
According to the shortlist, 'No Other Choice' and 'Golden' from 'KPop Demon Hunters' have been named as preliminary nominees in the International Feature Film and Best Original Song categories, respectively.
'No Other Choice' will compete against 'It Was Just an Accident' by Jafar Panahi (France), 'Sentimental Value' by Joachim Trier (Norway), 'The Secret Agent' by Kleber Mendonça Filho (Brazil), 'Kokuho' by Lee Sang-il (Japan), and 'The Voice of Hind Rajab' (Tunisia), which tells the tragedy of a girl from Gaza.
In the Best Original Song category, 'Golden' is joined on the shortlist by 'The Girl in the Bubble' and 'No Place Like Home' from the musical film 'Wicked: For Good', 'Dream as One' from 'Avatar: The Last Airbender', 'Drive' from 'F1', and 'I Ride to You' and 'Last Time (I Sing the Sun)' from 'Sinners'.
The final nominees will be announced on January 22 next year, and the awards ceremony will take place on March 15.
Previously, 'No Other Choice' was also nominated in three categories at the Golden Globe Awards: Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Non-English Language Film, and Best Actor (Lee Byung-hun).
'KPop Demon Hunters' is also up for the Golden Globe Awards in the categories of Best Animated Feature, Best Original Song, and Box Office Achievement.
