[Financial News] It truly lives up to its reputation. The film delivers the ultimate cinematic experience. It is the perfect example of a movie that must be seen in theaters. As director James Cameron described, the third installment of the ‘Avatar’ series, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash,’ is neither live-action nor animation. With a runtime of 197 minutes, it never gives the audience a chance to feel bored.
This installment captivates viewers not only with its spectacular visuals but also with the emotional journey of the Sully family, who, after losing their eldest son, overcome grief, guilt, and hatred to rise again. The way each of the Sully family's children grows in their own way, especially in a large family formed through adoption, resonates deeply with parents in the audience.
The new character Varang and her clan reveal the horrors of violence and war, showing how life can change depending on how one confronts extreme trauma. Though set in the imaginary world of Pandora, the characters' lives mirror our own reality. At the same time, scenes of characters soaring through the sky and swimming in the ocean offer a dreamlike world far removed from reality, making viewers wish the film would never end.
‘Avatar: Fire and Ash,’ which is having its world premiere in Korea, recorded nearly 600,000 pre-sale tickets as of 7 a.m. on the day of its release (the 17th), signaling a box office hit. Thanks to intense interest from moviegoers, the film topped overall advance ticket sales just three days after pre-sales opened. On the 12th, five days before the release, it matched the pre-sale numbers of the previous installment, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ which drew over 10 million viewers, hinting at a new phenomenon even before its release. As of 7 a.m. that day, the advance ticket sales rate stood at 76.2%, with 590,000 tickets sold.
Nine Character Posters Released to Commemorate the Premiere
To celebrate the release, nine character posters were unveiled, drawing attention. The posters feature not only new characters but also the main protagonists of the series and the Sully family children, who will lead the next generation. In particular, the poster highlighting Varang’s overwhelming presence heightens the tension just by looking at it. The legendary actor Charlie Chaplin’s granddaughter, Oona Chaplin, plays this role.
The children have matured even more compared to the previous installment, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water.’ Kiri (Sigourney Weaver), who will unleash her mysterious powers with the line, “Calling the warrior mother,” and Lo'ak (Britain Dalton), who fiercely fights to protect his family, saying, “We have to fight!” immediately stand out. Another key character, Miles "Spider" Socorro (Jack Champion), adds tension to the story and declares, “What matters is the size of your spirit,” showing unwavering determination in the face of danger. Tsireya (Bailey Bass) of the Metkayina clan encourages everyone, saying, “There is greatness within you,” while Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss) reassures, “The Sully family never gives up.” By the end of the film, audiences will find themselves especially drawn to these five children.
