The police have launched a compulsory investigation into the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) in connection with allegations that former KCSC Chairperson Heelim Ryu orchestrated civil complaints.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Public Crime Investigation Division announced that from around 9 a.m. on the 16th, it has been conducting a search and seizure at the KCSC office in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul.
According to the police, the search and seizure targeted only the KCSC office and did not include any private residences.
This raid is part of an investigation into suspicions that, in 2023, former Chairperson Ryu instructed family members and acquaintances to file civil complaints regarding specific news reports, and subsequently intervened in the review process, thereby obstructing official duties.
The case was initially investigated by the Seoul Yangcheon Police Station, but was later transferred to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Public Crime Investigation Division at the request of the prosecution for a renewed investigation.
