At a regular briefing held on the 15th, Park Jeong-bo, chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA), stated, “Six cases have been reported. Five complaints have been filed against Park, and one was filed by her side.”
Previously, Park Na-rae’s former managers filed a complaint with Gangnam Police Station on the 5th, accusing her of aggravated assault, defamation by spreading false information, and violations of the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation). In response, Park Na-rae filed a counter-complaint for attempted extortion, which is being handled by Yongsan Police Station.
Chief Park explained, “The cases have just been received, so the complainants have not yet been questioned, and there is nothing further to disclose at this time. We will conduct a thorough investigation in accordance with procedures.”
Regarding the recent cases of abduction, confinement, and disappearance of Koreans in the Kingdom of Cambodia, the police task force is currently investigating 36 cases intensively. Chief Park noted, “We have apprehended 40 suspects and detained 20. The types of crimes committed by those arrested include recruiting bank account holders, luring victims overseas, and participating in fraudulent call centers in Cambodia.”
The police also announced that they requested the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) to delete or block 270 related online posts, and sent official letters to 67 websites requesting management and cooperation.
