[Financial News] The All-New Hyundai Nexo, Hyundai Motor Company's hydrogen electric vehicle, has proven itself to be among the safest vehicles in the world.
Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 14th that the Hyundai Nexo received the highest five-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).
The Hyundai Nexo achieved the top rating thanks to its ability to maintain a stable passenger compartment during collisions and its array of advanced safety features, earning high praise from evaluators.
With this achievement, Hyundai Motor Company has now secured the highest Euro NCAP rating for its dedicated electric models—Hyundai Ioniq 5 in 2021, Hyundai Ioniq 6 in 2022, and Hyundai Ioniq 9 in September this year—demonstrating the outstanding safety of its electrified lineup.
Notably, Hyundai Motor Company first achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating for a hydrogen electric vehicle with the first-generation Hyundai Nexo in 2018. Now, with the second-generation model also earning the top rating, the company has further solidified its position as a leader in hydrogen mobility.
Launched in 1997, the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) conducts annual safety tests on vehicles sold in Europe. The evaluation covers four main categories: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection, and safety assist systems.
Euro NCAP stated, "The Hyundai Nexo maintains a safe passenger compartment in both frontal and side collisions, providing excellent protection for key body areas. It is also equipped with measures to reduce the risk of injury between occupants."
In the adult occupant protection assessment, the Hyundai Nexo demonstrated strong results in the front seat and headrest tests, effectively reducing whiplash injuries for adult dummies in rear-end collisions. In the child occupant protection assessment, it achieved top scores for safeguarding all critical body parts of 6- and 10-year-old dummies in both frontal and side impact tests.
Additionally, Euro NCAP praised the Hyundai Nexo for its automatic emergency call system, which notifies rescue centers in the event of an accident, and its multi-collision automatic braking system, which helps prevent secondary accidents. The vehicle also received positive feedback for allowing doors and windows to be opened in the event of flooding, enabling passengers to escape safely.
A Hyundai Motor Company representative stated, "With the Hyundai Nexo's top rating, our commitment to developing safe vehicles has once again been recognized. We will continue to do our utmost to provide customers with vehicles that offer world-class safety and quality."
