The police have continued their search and seizure operation for a third consecutive day at Coupang, following the leak of personal information belonging to 33.7 million customers.
On the morning of the 11th, at approximately 9:40 a.m., the Cyber Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) resumed its search and seizure at Coupang’s headquarters in Songpa District.
Previously, police conducted search and seizure operations at Coupang on both the 9th and 10th, from around 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., lasting about ten hours each day. Given the vast amount of data held by Coupang, it is expected that the investigation may continue for several days.
According to reports, the search and seizure warrant issued to the police lists a former employee of Chinese nationality as a suspect under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (ICNA) for alleged network intrusion and disclosure of secrets.
The police plan to use the materials obtained through the search and seizure to determine the route and cause of the personal information leak.
