On the 11th, the Korea Federation of SMEs (KBIZ) held the '2nd Committee on Small Enterprise and Distribution Industry for 2025' at its headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul. The committee, launched in May this year, aims to enhance the competitiveness of the small business distribution sector by identifying challenges in the field related to small enterprises and the distribution industry. Kim Jae-myeon, Chair of the Korea Voluntary Chain Cooperative (KVC), leads the committee.
During the meeting, discussions were held on legislative measures for fair online platforms, cooperation between large and small enterprises in the distribution sector, and the introduction of T-Commerce specialized for small businesses.
Committee members emphasized the growing importance of transparency and fairness in online platforms. They noted the need for legal frameworks, such as the enactment of the Online Platform Fairness Act, to ensure fair transactions for small businesses.
They also agreed that, since T-Commerce specialized for small businesses has been adopted as a government initiative, swift government action is necessary to strengthen the sales competitiveness of small business owners.
Chair Kim Jae-myeon stated, "We plan to actively voice opinions to ensure effective legal amendments that reflect the realities of the small business distribution sector. Strengthening competitiveness through private-sector cooperation is also important, so we will take the lead in discovering various collaborative projects between large and small enterprises in the distribution industry."
