[Financial News] On the 11th, Bitcoin (BTC) fell to the $91,000 level despite the Federal Reserve System (Fed) announcing a benchmark interest rate cut.
According to global digital asset information platform CoinMarketCap, BTC was trading at around $91,000 as of 10 a.m., down 0.84% from the previous day (24-hour basis). Over the past week, BTC has declined by 1.79%.
In the Korean won market, BTC is trading at approximately 135 million won. According to global crypto market comparison platform Cryprice, the Korea premium stands at 1.03%.
On the 10th (local time), the Fed held a regular meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) and decided to lower the benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage points, from the previous range of 3.75–4.00% to 3.50–3.75%.
However, it remains uncertain whether the rate-cutting trend will continue next year. In this meeting, the Fed presented a median year-end rate forecast of 3.4%. Considering the current rate, an additional 0.25 percentage point cut is possible, but differing opinions among FOMC members make it difficult to predict if further cuts will actually occur.
Jerome Hayden Powell, Chair of the Fed, stated, "The Fed's benchmark interest rate is currently at the Neutral Interest Rate." The Neutral Interest Rate refers to the real interest rate that maximizes employment without fueling inflation.
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index provided by CoinMarketCap showed a reading of 29, indicating 'fear.' The index ranges from 0 to 100, with values closer to 0 representing 'extreme fear' and those near 100 indicating 'extreme greed.'
At the same time, Ethereum was trading at $3,276, down 0.97% from the previous day. Ripple was down 3.01%, trading at $2.02.
