[Financial News] A Thai woman has alleged that her Korean boyfriend poured boiling water on her face, sparking controversy. The victim revealed her injuries online and appealed for help.
According to Thai media outlet The Thaiger and others on the 10th, a photo of a woman with her entire face bandaged was posted on a Social Networking Service (SNS) on the 3rd. The woman is currently hospitalized in Seoul, reportedly suffering facial burns after her boyfriend poured boiling water on her.
She posted on SNS seeking assistance, including interpretation services, to take legal action against her boyfriend. As a result, she has now hired a lawyer and is undergoing a police investigation with the help of an interpreter.
At the time of the incident, the victim reportedly went to the hospital with her boyfriend because she could not afford treatment. The boyfriend claimed it was a simple accident, but the doctor recognized it as an act of violence and immediately reported it to the police.
The two have since been separated. The perpetrator reportedly stated, "I thought if her face was damaged, she wouldn't be able to meet other men." He apologized and asked for forgiveness, but the woman has made it clear she does not wish to continue the relationship.
As the story spread online, some speculated that the victim might be staying illegally in the Republic of Korea (ROK). However, her side refuted this, stating that she possesses a Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) and is staying in the country legally.
The two were legally married and are now in the process of divorce. The woman is currently receiving treatment through fundraising and is sharing updates about her recovery and donations on SNS.
