[Financial News] Singer Sung Si-kyung’s sister and her agency have been referred to the prosecution on charges of operating an unregistered entertainment agency.
The Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station announced on the 10th that Sung Si-kyung’s sister, Sung Mo, and the agency SK Jaewon were sent to the prosecution without detention for violating the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act.
Police decided not to refer Sung Si-kyung, who was also accused, as there was no objective evidence confirming his direct involvement in the agency’s operations.
SK Jaewon is a one-person agency led by Sung Mo. The company was reported to the police for failing to register as a popular culture and arts planning business with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
At the time, SK Jaewon explained that when the corporation was established in February 2011, the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act did not exist, so they were unaware of the registration requirement. The law was enacted in January 2014.
