Seoul Jungnang Police Station announced on the 10th that a 19-year-old male, identified as A, was arrested at the scene and is under investigation on suspicion of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
A is accused of driving after drinking alcohol near an apartment in Sinnae-dong, Jungnang-gu, at around 11:30 p.m. the previous day and crashing into a police patrol car dispatched in response to a report of suspected drunk driving.
As a result of the accident, two police officers were injured and taken to the hospital, and the front of the patrol car was severely damaged.
A's blood alcohol concentration was at a level warranting license revocation, but he was not driving without a license.
A police official stated, "We are not considering requesting an arrest warrant," and added, "We are investigating the specific circumstances of the accident."
