KT announced on the 9th that it had won the grand prize in the large enterprise category at the 2nd Safety Culture Innovation Award, organized by the Korea Enterprises Federation (KEF).
KT was recognized for establishing a safety and health management system that meets domestic and international standards, as well as for promoting an action-oriented safety culture based on labor-management cooperation. The company explained that it has advanced its safety and health system through practical activities such as improving corporate culture, operating based on certification of legal compliance, and expanding safety investments. In 2023, KT obtained the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001) certification, and this year, it earned certification for the KOSHA Management System (KOSHA-MS) in the general construction sector.
KT also operates an artificial intelligence (AI)-based safety and health management system that integrates the management of construction site safety. This system predicts and analyzes the entire work process in real time to identify and eliminate risk factors early. Through video-based site monitoring and automated pre-work safety meetings (TBM), it proactively removes hazards and ensures safety management focused on actual work processes.
Going forward, KT plans to continue investing in safety by improving aging and vulnerable facilities and providing safety support to its affiliates and partners, thereby contributing to raising safety standards across the telecommunications industry.
Lim Hyun-kyu, Executive Vice President of Safety and Health at KT, stated, "We are strengthening safety and health management together with our affiliates and partners, focusing on preventing serious industrial accidents. With this award as motivation, we will do our utmost to create safer and healthier workplaces and achieve zero serious accidents."
