[Financial News] Comedian Cho Sae-ho, who announced his departure from TV shows following allegations of ties to organized crime, has personally addressed the situation.
On the 9th, Cho Sae-ho posted on his Social Networking Service (SNS), “I sincerely apologize for disappointing so many people due to recent events. I was concerned that a lengthy explanation might cause further discomfort, but I felt it was my responsibility to directly share my thoughts and position in return for the support I have received.”
Cho Sae-ho explained, “Since I have attended various local events for a long time, I have met many people I did not know before. As someone in the public eye, I should have been more cautious in managing my relationships, but in my younger days, I was not mature enough to handle all those connections appropriately. I deeply regret this.”
He continued, “However, I want to make it clear that the allegations raised due to those connections are completely untrue. I am well aware that my appearance in certain photos has caused disappointment. I was supposed to bring laughter and comfort to viewers, but instead, I caused discomfort and let people down. I sincerely reflect on this and apologize once again.”
As a result of these allegations, Cho Sae-ho announced his departure from tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block' and KBS 2TV’s '2 Days & 1 Night (1N2D)'. He explained, “Through this experience, I reflected on whether it was right for me to continue appearing on these programs, and I decided to step down from both.”
Cho Sae-ho stated, “The most important aspect of 'You Quiz on the Block' is listening to and empathizing with the guests’ stories. In my current situation, I judged that I could not fully fulfill that role,” explaining his reason for leaving the show.
He added, “As '1N2D' is also a major entertainment program on the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), I was concerned that my presence might place an unnecessary burden on the program and the team. After much deliberation, I informed the production staff of my intention to leave both shows.”
Cho Sae-ho reflected, “After getting married last year and starting a family, I have tried to become a better person, but through this incident, I have realized that I still have many shortcomings. Nevertheless, for the sake of my family, whom I am responsible for, I plan to take the necessary steps to correct any misinformation.”
He concluded, “From now on, I will manage my surroundings and actions more carefully so as not to cause the same disappointment again. I will use this as an opportunity for deep reflection and strive to return as a more mature person. I will do my best to become a better person.”
