[Financial News] Ssangyong Engineering & Construction recently secured a major hospital construction project commissioned by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Singapore. The total project value is approximately 800 billion KRW. On the 9th, Ssangyong Engineering & Construction announced that it had won the contract for the outpatient ward of Alexandra Hospital, valued at about $580 million (approximately 800 billion KRW), through a joint venture with Shimizu Corporation of Japan and KIMREE of Singapore. Ssangyong Engineering & Construction holds a 40% stake in the joint venture, making its share of the contract worth around 320 billion KRW.
To win the contract for the outpatient ward—which will span three underground and twelve above-ground floors, including clinics, offices, and a four-story parking lot—Ssangyong Engineering & Construction formed a joint venture and competed against Chinese firms, ultimately securing the project.
A representative from Ssangyong Engineering & Construction stated, “Prior to this contract, we demonstrated our construction and management capabilities for complex hospital projects by overcoming the challenges of COVID-19 and completing the Woodlands Health Campus (WHC)—the largest general hospital built in Singapore—in six years.” The representative added, “The quality of our work was highly regarded by the client, which was a key factor in winning this contract.” To date, Ssangyong Engineering & Construction has executed more than 40 projects in Singapore, including the Marina Bay Sands hotel and other complex underground subway civil works.
