[The Financial News] On the 4th, when heavy snow blanketed all of Seoul, a story about a delivery driver who cleared the snow in front of a store has gone viral after being shared by the store owner.
On the 7th, a pizza shop in Gangnam District, Seoul, posted Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage of the storefront on its social networking service (SNS), asking, "Please help spread this story." The footage, taken on the 4th when traffic across Seoul was paralyzed by the snowstorm, begins with a delivery driver wearing a helmet entering the store.
While waiting for the pizza to be packed, the delivery driver stepped outside, glanced at the snow piled on the stairs, picked up a broom, and began sweeping. The driver carefully cleared the snow from the stairs to the entrance and even brushed off the snow from the doormat before leaving with the pizza.
The store owner explained, "On the day of the unexpected snowstorm a few days ago, the delivery driver who picked up our pizza swept the area in front of the store with a broom for over ten minutes while waiting. When I offered him a free pizza, he declined, and he also refused when I tried to add extra items as a service."
He continued, "Normally, we put down anti-slip pads and sprinkle Potassium chloride (KCl), but that day the snowfall was extreme. There were many car accidents, and many delivery drivers left early or deliveries were delayed, so I ended up making deliveries myself," he recalled.
He added, "I had already cleared the snow seven times that day. But with the rush of orders and constant inquiries, I didn’t notice how quickly the snow piled up again." He went on, "I completely understand why the delivery driver would decline any reward for his good deed. I believe he will return, and I intend to thank him, even if it means insisting a little," expressing his hope to see the driver again.
