[Financial News] Kang Yong-suk has expressed his desire to apologize to Kim Gun-mo regarding the sexual assault allegations he raised against the singer on his former YouTube channel.
On the 8th, the YouTube channel 'Byunggi Clinic,' co-hosted by former Channel A anchor Park Jong-jin and Kang Yong-suk, uploaded a video titled 'Kang Yong-suk Part 2 | The Runaway Train Named Desire, Garo Sero Research Institute! The Hidden Tragedy of Reporter Kim Yong-ho.'
In this video, Kang discussed with Park his past activities on the Garo Sero Research Institute YouTube channel, reflecting on instances when he and other members targeted various public figures.
During the conversation, Kang remarked, "The celebrity we went after the most, to the point of almost ruining his career, was Kim Gun-mo." He added, "In Kim Gun-mo's case, we focused on him excessively. There was no need to go that far, but I went too hard on him."
Kang also stated, "I sincerely apologize to the public for the various controversies I have caused. If Kim Gun-mo happens to see this broadcast, I would like to meet him in person and offer my apology."
Previously, in 2019, Ms. A, an employee at an entertainment venue, filed a complaint alleging that Kim Gun-mo had sexually assaulted her. The Garo Sero Research Institute was the first to broadcast Ms. A's claims, drawing significant public attention.
However, after a thorough review of the testimonies and evidence, prosecutors concluded in November 2021 that there was insufficient evidence to support the charges. Ms. A immediately appealed, but the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office once again decided not to indict after re-examining the case.
When the sexual assault allegations surfaced, Kim Gun-mo maintained his innocence. Nevertheless, he withdrew from the SBS TV show 'My Little Old Boy' and canceled his 25th anniversary concert. He also divorced his wife, pianist Jang Ji-yeon, after two years and eight months of marriage.
