[Financial News] A lawyer in Hong Kong was indicted for having sexual intercourse twice with a 12-year-old girl and producing over 200 illegal recordings. Although he claimed in court that they were 'in a loving relationship,' he was sentenced to prison.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 4th, the Hong Kong District Court sentenced lawyer Kelvin Luk Kinting (40) to three years and seven months in prison.
The court pointed out, "It is even more disappointing that a highly educated lawyer proposed sexual relations to a first-year middle school student with little life or social experience."
In response, the defendant argued, "I was in an emotionally connected, loving relationship with the victim," and claimed, "The victim was the one who first wanted to have sex."
However, the court ruled, "He exploited the curiosity of an immature child to satisfy his own desires."
Investigations revealed that Luk first met the victim through a dating app. He pretended to be in his late twenties, while the victim also lied, claiming to be a middle school student preparing for college entrance exams.
The two met twice in March last year, and the lawyer took the victim to a nearby high-rise apartment where they had sexual intercourse.
There was also sexual intercourse during their second meeting, during which 204 photos and nine videos were taken.
The crime was uncovered in May last year when the victim’s father discovered nude photos his daughter had sent to the defendant.
After being arrested, Luk admitted to two counts of illegal sexual intercourse with a minor under 13, two counts of producing child pornography, and one count of producing pornography involving a minor under 16.
