[Financial News] Comedian Park Na-rae has announced a halt to her broadcasting activities amid allegations of power abuse toward her former manager and controversy over illegal medical practices.
On the 8th, Park Na-rae posted a statement on her social media, saying, “I have decided to suspend all broadcasting activities until everything is clearly resolved, as I cannot cause further trouble to the programs and my colleagues.”
She explained, “In early November, two managers who were like family to me suddenly resigned, and misunderstandings built up as I had no opportunity to speak with them until recently. Thanks to your help, I was able to meet with my former manager yesterday and clear up misunderstandings and distrust, but ultimately, everything is my fault.” She added, “As a comedian whose job is to bring laughter and joy, I am deeply reflecting on my actions. Once again, I sincerely apologize to everyone who has trusted and supported me.”
Recently, Park Na-rae has faced allegations of power abuse raised by her former managers, including verbal abuse, special assault, proxy prescriptions, and unpaid performance fees.
Additionally, suspicions of illegal medical practices involving a person known as the 'injection aunt' have surfaced. The Association of Physicians for a Fair Society has claimed that this individual is a 'phantom graduate of a non-existent medical school' and has called for an investigation.
Park Na-rae debuted as a comedian in the 21st open recruitment of the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and is currently appearing on Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) variety shows such as 'I Live Alone' and 'Where Is My Home.' She won the Grand Prize at the 2019 MBC Entertainment Awards and the Best Female Entertainer in the TV category at the 2020 Baeksang Arts Awards. As the controversy spreads, attention is focused on how the situation will unfold following Park Na-rae’s announcement to suspend her activities.
