A, claimed that he was instead threatened by his former son-in-law, who demanded a large sum of money. On the 8th, Mr. A told Yonhap News Agency, “My former son-in-law’s side demanded around 4 billion won,” adding, “He has already received a summary order from the court on charges of attempted extortion for demanding money by threatening to provide false information to the media. ” According to related documents, Mr. Ryu, Mr.
A’s former son-in-law, was referred to the prosecution last April on charges of demanding assets worth about 4 billion won—including the transfer of shared apartment ownership, monthly child support of 5 million won, and alimony of 2 billion won. Last month, he was issued a summary order to pay a fine of 3 million won. Mr. A stated, “Even recently, he has continued to demand money, mentioning media reports and posting on the National Petition website. ” Previously, Mr.
A’s daughter, Ms. B, was accused by her ex-husband, Mr. Ryu, of staying at hotels in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon with her student, Mr. C, from August 2023 to January 2024 and engaging in sexual acts, as well as bringing her one-year-old son to these locations.
However, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office ruled on the 14th of last month that there was no evidence of a crime. Prosecutors found that while there were circumstances raising suspicion about their relationship, it was difficult to acknowledge that any sexual acts took place before Mr. C turned 18 in September 2023. The child abuse charge was also dropped due to insufficient evidence.
Mr. Ryu has filed an appeal against this decision. Mr. A refuted the public allegations, stating that his daughter did not have an inappropriate relationship with her student and never considered returning to teaching.
He explained, “My daughter often went on hotel stays with students to take photos and relax. The student, Mr. B, had a university interview the next day, so he was allowed to sleep on a folding bed. ” Mr.
A added, “Despite months of investigation, including police and prosecutors searching my daughter’s phone and checking the location data of both her and the student’s phones, no evidence was found, which is why the case was dismissed. Of course, my daughter gave cause for suspicion, but I told her, ‘Don’t even dream of being a teacher. You are not qualified. ’ Since a year ago, she has been working at another company and preparing for the CPA exam.
