[Financial News] Amid rumors of a relationship between BTS's Jung Kook and Aespa's Winter, RM, the leader of BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan), who is set to make a full group comeback next spring, reaffirmed his commitment by saying, “There were times I considered disbanding or taking a break, but I will prepare well and show you our best.”
On the 7th, RM held a live broadcast through the fan communication platform Weverse.
"Countless Times I Thought About Disbanding or Taking a Break"
During the broadcast, RM indirectly revealed that each member has their own life and that he can no longer control everything, saying, “I can no longer call myself the representative of the team.”
He confessed, “I can no longer represent the team. After all, I am just one person. For about five years, until 2017 or 2018, I think I acted as the leader, but after that, each member has their own personality, boundaries, and lifestyle. It’s no longer possible for me to manage the members as I once did.”
He also admitted to having many concerns ahead of the group’s comeback. “Since last month, I’ve been unable to sleep and even considered getting a prescription for sleeping pills,” he said, expressing the pressure he feels to meet fans’ expectations. During this, he even mentioned the word 'disbandment.'
He explained, “I’ve wondered tens of thousands of times whether it would be better to disband or to take a break. The reason we continue as a team is because of the love we have for each other and the love and respect we have for all of you watching this live broadcast.”
RM also touched on the recent circumstances surrounding the team and its members, saying, “If you only live your life in front of the camera and don’t actually live, how can your songs have any scent?” highlighting the importance of personal life beyond being a star.
He emphasized, “The members need to have fun and live as individuals to create good content. Only then can personal identity resonate universally. We, as artists, are full of flaws and shortcomings, but I believe our clumsiness and various experiences contribute to what we create.”
New Album Set for Release Next Spring: “Progressing Well”
Despite complex worries and unspoken circumstances, preparations for the new album scheduled for release next spring are going smoothly.
He assured fans, “The album is almost ready, and we all practiced together yesterday. We are filming content and practicing every day. We will prepare well and show you our best.”
The last time all seven members held a concert together was in October 2022.
RM noted, “It’s already been over three years. I want to perform right now. Some ask why we wasted the latter half of 2025 or did nothing, but we didn’t want to waste that time either. We wanted to be active, but there were reasons we couldn’t. I don’t have the right to explain why we couldn’t promote.”
He added, “We will continue to practice and film in December. The comeback is not far off now. I am truly sorry for making you wait so long, but we will definitely return. We will do our best.”
