[Financial News] On the 7th, President Lee Jae-myung nominated Kim Ho-chul, a current attorney at ClassHankyul LLC, as the new candidate for Auditor General.
Kyuyoun Lee, Senior Secretary for Public Relations at the Office of the President of South Korea, announced the nomination during a briefing.
Kim, a graduate of the 20th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, previously served as president of Lawyers for a Democratic Society (MINBYUN). He has also held positions as Chair of the Korean National Police Committee, Co-Representative of the Korean Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM), and Standing Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Suspicious Deaths in the Military.
Senior Secretary Lee described Kim as a prominent human rights lawyer who has led efforts to uphold social values. He emphasized that Kim maintained public interest and legal principles even in high-profile cases, such as the establishment of the police bureau and investigations into suspicious deaths in the military. Lee added that Kim is the right person to firmly restore the constitutional values of political neutrality, independence, and public trust in the Board of Audit and Inspection.
