[The Financial News] A woman in her 50s in the UK was pronounced dead after collapsing at home, but later regained consciousness in the morgue before ultimately passing away due to brain damage.

After suffering a seizure and being declared dead by paramedics, she was moved to the morgue. Several hours later, staff discovered she was still alive. However, she later died from brain damage.
According to the Daily Mail on the 2nd (local time), Olive Martin, 54, collapsed from a seizure while making toast at her home in County Durham, England.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene determined that Martin had died. As a result, she was immediately transported to the morgue at Darlington Hospital instead of the emergency room. However, several hours later, morgue staff discovered she was still alive. Martin received treatment, but ultimately succumbed to brain damage. Investigators stated, "The cause of death was brain damage," adding that "this occurred well after the initial incident."
Tom Barclay Sample, the family's attorney, pointed out, "Martin was left unattended for about two hours without receiving any treatment," and emphasized, "If she had been taken to the hospital immediately and received emergency care, the outcome might have been different."
Durham Constabulary investigated the case but concluded that no criminal charges would be filed.
