Samsung Display announced on the 4th that it has received the Korea Technology Grand Prize for developing the world’s first high-resolution monitor QD-OLED with a pixel density of 160PPI (Pixels Per Inch) and a 4000-nit high-brightness QD-OLED for TVs.
From the 3rd to the 5th, at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul, Samsung Display received the Korea Technology Grand Prize Minister’s Award during the Korea Tech Festival 2025. The company is showcasing its award-winning QD-OLED products, along with foldable displays and more.
The Korea Technology Grand Prize, established in 1992, is the nation’s most prestigious technology award and is jointly organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KEIT). Earlier this year, Samsung Display launched its 160PPI high-resolution monitor QD-OLED and 4,000-nit high-brightness TV QD-OLED, leading technological innovation in the large display sector. In particular, the 160PPI monitor QD-OLED is an ultra-high-density display with 160 pixels per inch, enabling sharper and more detailed images by increasing the amount of data that can be displayed at the same resolution.
The 4000-nit high-brightness QD-OLED for TVs also delivers extreme brightness and clarity that was previously difficult to achieve, providing an outstanding viewing experience even in very bright environments. This product is praised for its realistic contrast comparable to the human eye, offering delicate detail even in dark scenes.
Meanwhile, Choi Yeol, Executive Vice President and Head of Small and Medium-Sized Development at Samsung Display, was awarded a presidential commendation at the Korea Tech Festival 2025 in recognition of his contributions to the development of foldable displays.
