[Financial News] Former national baseball team manager Ryu Joong-il has claimed that his former daughter-in-law maintained an inappropriate relationship with her high school student and has filed a National Petition seeking punishment. After prosecutors decided not to indict his former daughter-in-law, Ryu revealed his identity and took action himself.
Ryu Joong-il: "No Investigation Conducted, School Avoids Responsibility"

According to the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea on the 4th, Ryu submitted a plea to the National Petition board of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, identifying himself as the informant in the 'female teacher's inappropriate relationship with a student' case. He appealed for institutional reforms to prevent similar injustices from happening to others.
Ryu stated, "As a parent, I was deeply disappointed by the response of the judicial authorities and educational administration in Korea during this incident." He continued, "There are circumstances suggesting that the female teacher maintained a long-term inappropriate relationship with a senior high school student during the semester. It was also confirmed that my grandson accompanied them to hotels on several occasions, causing great pain and shock to our family."
He added, "Despite physical evidence and various circumstances at the scene, no active investigation was conducted. The district office classified the case as not being child abuse, and the high school also avoided involvement, stating that the school bore no responsibility."
He emphasized, "The fact that the female teacher objectified a student at her school and exposed a child to inappropriate situations, as well as the lack of proper management by the school, are serious issues that must be clearly investigated and cannot be overlooked."
Ryu further stated, "Currently, my former daughter-in-law is preparing to return to teaching, and the Office of Education has also stated that there are no issues." He called for improvements to the Child Welfare Act and stricter investigation standards to better protect students and children.
Inappropriate Relationship with High School Student... 'No Charges' Decision

His former daughter-in-law, former teacher A (34), was accused by her ex-husband Ryu of engaging in sexual acts with high school student B from her school between August 2023 and January 2024 at hotels in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, and of bringing her one-year-old son to these locations.
However, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office issued a no charges decision on the 14th of last month.
Ryu submitted evidence including CCTV footage from hotel lobbies and restaurants showing A and B hugging and kissing, multiple hotel reservation records, costume purchase receipts, and DNA analysis results from a private agency.
Prosecutors acknowledged circumstances suggesting a relationship but concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prove that sexual acts occurred before B turned 18 in September 2023. The child abuse allegations regarding the son were also dismissed for lack of evidence.
Dissatisfied with the decision, Ryu submitted an appeal to the prosecution the previous day.
