[The Financial News] A story has emerged about a business owner who suffered extreme stress after a customer demanded a refund, claiming they disliked the texture of the tteokbokki rice cakes.
Refund Request at 1 a.m.... Customer Says They Will Discard the Food

On the 2nd, a post titled "Canceling and Refunding Wheat Tteokbokki Because It's Too Chewy—Malicious Refund Scammers in Food Delivery" was uploaded to the online community for business owners, Apeunikka Sajangida.
"Malicious refund scammer in food delivery" refers to a problematic customer who eats delivered food and then demands a refund for unreasonable reasons.
The author, identified as A, began, "We use small wheat rice cakes. After our main menu item, Croffle, tteokbokki is our next best-seller."
A continued, "We have never received a complaint before, and our reviews have always been positive. For the last order received 10 minutes before closing, we sent tteokbokki and even included leftover croffle as a complimentary item."
However, around 1 a.m., when the shop was about to close, the customer called and complained, saying, "The rice cake is too chewy to eat."
A explained, "That's the typical texture of wheat rice cakes." But the customer insisted, "I don't like it chewy. Come and try it yourself."
When A said they could not visit the customer, the customer replied, "I'll call customer service." Eventually, after finishing work, A received a message from the food delivery platform stating that the order had been fully canceled and refunded.
After receiving the message, A contacted the food delivery platform to ask for the reason. The platform explained, "The customer said they couldn't eat the food and would discard it themselves, so we issued a refund."
Online Commenters Outraged: "Many People Abuse Refunds—Request a Review"

A lamented, "If it hadn't been so late at night, I would have wanted to retrieve the food. I was so exhausted, but I couldn't sleep and stayed up all night."
Upon reading the story, online commenters reacted, "This is really too much," "Do we now have to cook rice cakes to order, from rare to well-done?" "Of course rice cakes should be chewy—should they be hard and tough instead? That's absurd," "Refunds are being abused more and more," "It seems likely the customer ate the food and still got a refund," and "Request a review after submitting a recording and proof of disposal."
