[Financial News] Ink Waruntorn, a renowned Thai singer who has previously won awards at Korean music ceremonies, has requested an investigation by the Royal Thai Police (RTP) after explicit photos and videos featuring her face, created using deepfake technology, were circulated.
According to Thai media outlets such as Khaosod on the 1st (local time), Ink Waruntorn personally visited the northern Bangkok government complex to file a complaint. She claimed that someone with malicious intent used artificial intelligence technology to manipulate her image into pornographic content, which was then distributed on social networking services (SNS), causing severe damage to her reputation and dignity.
The RTP, which received the case, stated that messages and content harming Ink Waruntorn had been posted on four SNS accounts. The police are currently collecting related evidence.
A police official warned that not only those who create videos or messages infringing on others' rights, but also those who share or distribute them, may face legal consequences.
The official added that the perpetrators would be swiftly tracked and brought to justice. They also emphasized that arrest warrants would be issued immediately once the identities of those responsible are confirmed.
Ink Waruntorn debuted in 2007 as a member of the girl group Chilli White Choc, marking her entry into the Thai entertainment industry. After leaving the group in 2009, she returned as a solo artist in 2015. Her debut single at the time, 'Insomnia,' topped the music charts and gained widespread popularity. Notably, in 2020, she won the 'Best Asian Artist' category at the MAMA Awards organized by CJ ENM.
