[Financial News] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), together with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), announced that on the 3rd, they will hold an opening ceremony for the nation's largest 'Virtual Studio' at Studio Cube in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.
The newly opened 'Virtual Studio' features a massive domestic LED wall measuring 60 meters in length and 8 meters in height. Utilizing real-time 3D graphics technology, it combines actual filming locations with virtual backgrounds, offering a state-of-the-art production system.
By projecting virtual backgrounds onto the LED wall, the screen responds in real time to camera movements, enabling the immediate filming of immersive, three-dimensional scenes on site.
Notably, the opening ceremony will go beyond a simple facility introduction and include a live demonstration using In-Camera Visual Effects (ICVFX) technology, which implements special effects on screen simultaneously with camera shooting.
Attendees can directly observe how footage shot on site is transformed into content and vividly experience new production methods that blend virtual and real elements within the 'Virtual Studio.' They will also have opportunities to recreate moments where tradition and modernity coexist by revisiting the past, and to transcend space by virtually joining scenes set in major cities around the world.
With the completion of the 'Virtual Studio,' Studio Cube is now equipped as a multipurpose studio capable of general, underwater, and virtual filming.
MCST expects the 'Virtual Studio' to serve as a pivotal space for K-content creation. Production companies are anticipated to significantly reduce costs and time spent on overseas location shoots and post-production by utilizing these cutting-edge facilities.
Through the pilot operation of the 'Virtual Studio,' MCST will provide comprehensive support to production companies, including facilities, equipment, and specialized technical staff. The ministry also plans to foster professionals by offering a 'Virtual Studio Practical Master Class' for those working in the broadcast and video content industry.
Kim Young-soo, First Vice Minister of MCST, who attended the opening ceremony, stated, "With the launch of the 'Virtual Studio,' we expect broadcast and video content companies to actively utilize these advanced production facilities and introduce globally competitive content to the world market."
